Two dead in Sunday night accident near Chenoa
CHENOA — Two people are dead following a two-vehicle accident near Chenoa at about 9:15 p.m. Sunday, said McLean County Coroner Beth Kimmerling.
Kimmerling said the accident involved an automobile and a semi tractor trailer near the intersection of 3360 East and Illinois 24 in Yates Township just west of Weston. Rescue personnel found two individuals trapped in the automobile. Both were pronounced dead at the scene at 11:31 p.m. Kimmerling said the male and female are from rural McLean County, but their names have not been released. Autopsies will be scheduled.
The driver of the truck was not injured, Kimmerling said.
The Chenoa Police Department, Colfax Police Department, Illinois State Police, Chenoa and Fairbury Fire Departments all assisted at the scene.
